What does this organelle do?
It's a POP email client.

You use it to read email from a POP server (POP servers are quite standard nowadays).

It does not send email and it does not handle attachments or such very well. Note that it simply reads messages -- it does not specifically remove them from your POP server unless you tell it to do so.

What version of Director do I need?
This organelle is available only as Director 7 source, currently. I will probably create a 6 version, but not right away.

You need the XtraNet Xtra (free) to make this client work.

You can download my Windows 9x or NT Director 7 stub launcher (1.5 Mb) and use that to run this organelle.

Getting started
It's pretty simple to use this organelle, really.

Fire it up and click the "read email" button. You'll be taken to a connection dialog asking you your server's name, your login and password. Enter the correct information and proceed from there.

The organelle will retrieve only the email headers on the server, so you can delete any of the ones you don't want to read right away.

Items with a "+" will not be deleted; items with a "-" will be deleted as soon as you click the "update" button.

I have some update plans in mind for this one. Eventually I'd like to include the following functionality:

  • SPAM filter
  • Killfile
  • Learn published behaviors right from email
  • Send mail as well as receive it
  • Client-side listserv capability
OK! Let's do it!
